Meet at Grey’s Monument and finish in the cloister garth of Blackfriars.
More of Newcastle’s Town Wall survives than those in most other English towns. On this walk you will see the remaining West Walls which have been preserved and is the largest standing portion. Behind the wall stands Blackfriars. With its origins dating back to 1239 and a long and turbulent history hear how it was first a Dominican Friary, then used by the Guilds of Newcastle and is now a restaurant and craft workshops.
This walk includes some steps and cobbled surfaces.
