Clifford’s Tower, York

Clifford’s Tower is one of York’s most iconic landmarks, standing proudly on a grass-covered motte just south of the city centre. Built in the 13th century on the site of an earlier Norman wooden fortress, the tower played a key role in the city’s medieval defences and royal history. Its distinctive four-lobed design offers panoramic views across York, including the Minster and the surrounding city walls.
