An English Football Legendary Lioness: Resilience in Life & on the Pitch

Jill Scott MBE, born in Sunderland, England, is a celebrated former professional footballer. She began her football journey in her hometown, playing for Sunderland Women eventually leading to Everton Ladies in 2006, where she secured the FA Women’s National League Cup in the 2007-08 season and the Women’s FA Cup in 2010. In 2013, she transferred to Manchester City, contributing to multiple title victories, including the Women’s Super League in 2016 and several Women’s FA Cups and League Cups.

On the international stage, Jill is the second most capped England player with 161 appearances for the England national team. She represented England in ten major tournaments and was part of the squad that won the UEFA Women’s Euro 2022 on home soil. Jill also represented Great Britain at the 2012 and 2020 Olympic Games.

After announcing her retirement from football in 2022, Jill’s enjoyed great success in media including winning the 2022 edition of “I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!” Additionally, she serves as blue team captain on Sky’s “A League of Their Own” and is part of the regular ‘Stick to Football’ panel for The Overlap alongside Gary Neville, Ian Wright, Roy Keane and Jamie Carragher.

Jill also co-owns Boxx2Boxx Coffee, a highly-rated café in Manchester, with her fiancée Shelly where she can often be found on her ‘days off’ with a Flat White in hand.
