Queen’s House

August 23 @ 4:30 pm - 5:00 pm

The Queen’s House in Greenwich is a masterpiece of classical architecture and one of the most important historic buildings in Britain. Designed by Inigo Jones in 1616 for Anne of Denmark, wife of King James I, it was the first building in England to be constructed in the Palladian style, introducing a new era of elegant symmetry and proportion. Over the centuries, the Queen’s House became a royal residence and later part of the Royal Hospital for Seamen. Today, it forms part of the National Maritime Museum and houses an outstanding collection of fine art, including portraits by famous artists such as Gainsborough and Reynolds. Its striking black-and-white Tulip Stairs are particularly admired, making the Queen’s House a must-see highlight of Maritime Greenwich.
