SUMMARY:Mozart's Symphony No. 39
DESCRIPTION:Sunshine. Smiles. Good vibes only.\nWho’s on stage\nNorth East musical royalty\, Royal Northern Sinfonia\, with conductor Dinis Sousa and guest soprano Erika Baikoff. \nWhat they’re playing\nA line up of music that’s nothing if not refreshing. Mozart’s Symphony No. 39 and a selection of his arias written for the concert stage\, interspersed with music by the brilliant Hungarian composer György Kurtág who celebrates his 100th birthday this month. \n\n\nWhat you’ll hear\n\nGyörgy Kurtág …quasi una fantasia…\nWolfgang Amadeus Mozart Mitridate\, re di Ponto: Al destin\, che la minaccia\nGyörgy Kurtág Brefs Messages\nWolfgang Amadeus Mozart Bella mia fiamma\nGyörgy Kurtág Four Capriccios for soprano and chamber orchestra\nWolfgang Amadeus Mozart Symphony No. 39 \n\n\nWho’s playing it\n\nDinis Sousa conductor\nErika Baikoff soprano\nRoyal Northern Sinfonia \nA change to the line-up – Louise Alder is now taking some time off to have a baby. We wish her all the best and thank Erika for stepping in. \n\n\n\nWhat’s happening in the music?\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMozart could do dark and moody but he’s maybe better known for his upbeat\, perky\, optimistic music\, and that’s definitely what we’ve got here. His Symphony No. 39 does have an element of mystery\, but overall it’s a piece full of musical fireworks\, with the final movement being nothing short of a triumphant romp\, Mozart totally letting his hair down. Kurtág’s spare\, enigmatic music is the perfect counterpoint. \nhttps://theglasshouseicm.org/whats-on/mozarts-symphony-no-39/

SUMMARY:A Walk After the Final Cut
DESCRIPTION:Stepping out of Crew Gal in North Shields\, the walk towards West Monkseaton felt like a quiet decompression after the intensity of the previous six weeks. I had just come out of the exit meeting with Crew Gal\, marking the end of an immersive course in making a music video\, and my head was still buzzing with ideas\, feedback\, and a sense of achievement. As I followed the familiar streets and coastal air drifted in\, the rhythm of walking seemed to mirror the creative journey I’d just completed—periods of focus\, moments of doubt\, and ultimately progress. By the time I reached West Monkseaton Metro\, the walk had given me space to reflect\, reset\, and appreciate how much I’d learned\, not just about music videos\, but about my own creative process. \nhttps://maps.app.goo.gl/Qj9crJsDFLhGPQk4A

SUMMARY:Daft Funk Live (A Retrospective Celebration of Daft Punk Live)
DESCRIPTION:O2 City Hall \n \nWhen Daft Punk announced their disbandment in 2021 via a cryptic and cinematic video titled Epilogue\, it marked the end of a musical era. For over two decades\, the enigmatic French duo—Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter—pushed the boundaries of electronic music\, creating a body of work that was as experimental as it was accessible. With albums like Homework\, Discovery\, and Random Access Memories\, they became global icons not just in music\, but in visual and conceptual art as well. One of the most lamented aspects of their departure was the fact that many fans would never get to experience a Daft Punk live performance\, something that had already become a rarity. \nThat’s where Daft Funk Live steps in—not just as a tribute act\, but as a retrospective celebration of Daft Punk’s legendary live shows. This isn’t just about nostalgia; it’s about preserving a cultural artifact. The duo behind Daft Funk Live have taken on the ambitious task of recreating\, reviving\, and celebrating the immersive world that Daft Punk built—one beat\, one helmet\, and one LED screen at a time. \nhttps://www.daftfunk.co.uk/
