On July 9, 1986, Queen performed at Newcastle’s St James’ Park as part of their iconic Magic Tour, which would become their final tour with Freddie Mercury. The concert was one of only two stadium shows Queen played in England outside of London that year, with the other being at Manchester’s Maine Road. The band delivered a spectacular setlist featuring classics like “Bohemian Rhapsody,” “We Will Rock You,” “Radio Ga Ga,” and “We Are the Champions.” With Mercury’s electrifying stage presence, Brian May’s soaring guitar solos, and the band’s legendary anthems, the Newcastle crowd was treated to an unforgettable performance. The Magic Tour was in support of their 1986 album A Kind of Magic, and it culminated in the historic Wembley Stadium shows and their final UK performance at Knebworth Park a month later. Queen’s Newcastle show remains a cherished memory for fans, marking one of the last chances to see Mercury command a stadium with his unmatched charisma and vocal power.
